Ribhu Gita - Chapter 26 (Verses 1-8)

Chapter 26 of the Ribhu Gītā focuses on the direct and uncompromising exposition of non-dual reality (Advaita). It dismantles all constructs of duality, differentiation, and even traditional spiritual practices to reveal the indivisible nature of Brahman. The chapter reiterates that the highest truth is beyond mental formulation and rests in the direct, silent realization of the Self as blissful, formless, and eternal.

Verse 1

वक्ष्ये सच्चित्परानन्दं स्वभावैति सर्वदा सुखम्।
सर्ववेदपुराणानां सारत्सारतरं स्वयम्॥

vakṣye saccit-parānandaṃ svabhāvaiti sarvadā sukham.
sarvavedapurāṇānāṃ sārat-sārataram svayam.

I shall explain the Existence-Consciousness-Supreme Bliss which is ever joy by its own nature. It is by itself the essence of all the Vedas and the Purāṇas.

Verse 2

न भेदं च द्वयं द्वन्द्वं न भेदैर्भेदवर्जितम्।
इदमेव परं ब्रह्म ज्ञानाश्रयमनामयम्॥

na bhēdaṃ ca dvayaṃ dvandvaṃ na bhēdair bhēdavarjitam.
idam eva paraṃ brahma jñāna-śrayam anāmayam.

There is no difference, no duality, no pairs of opposites; not even the absence of these. This alone is the Supreme Brahman—free of affliction, established in knowledge.

Verse 3

न क्वचिन्न तथाहं नाक्षरं न परात्परम्।
इदमेव परं ब्रह्म ज्ञानाश्रयमनामयम्॥

na kvacinna tathāhaṃ nākṣaraṃ na parāt-paraṃ.
idam eva paraṃ brahma jñāna-śrayam anāmayam.

There is nothing anywhere such as ‘I alone am’; nothing undecaying, nothing beyond the beyond. This alone is the Supreme Brahman—rooted in knowledge, untouched by affliction.

Verse 4

न बहिर्नान्तरं नाहं न संकल्पो न विग्रहः।
इदमेव परं ब्रह्म ज्ञानाश्रयमनामयम्॥

na bahir nāntaraṃ nāhaṃ na saṃkalpo na vigrahaḥ.
idam eva paraṃ brahma jñāna-śrayam anāmayam.

There is no external or internal, no ‘I’, no volition, no form. This alone is the Supreme Brahman—attainable by knowledge, free of disease.

Verse 5

न सत्यं च परित्याज्यं न वार्ता नार्थदूषणम्।
इदमेव परं ब्रह्म ज्ञानाश्रयमनामयम्॥

na satyaṃ ca parityājyaṃ na vārtā nārthadūṣaṇam.
idam eva paraṃ brahma jñāna-śrayam anāmayam.

There is no truth to abandon, no discussion, no blemish of meaning. This alone is the Supreme Brahman—attainable by knowledge, without affliction.

Verse 6

न गुणो गुणिवाक्यं वा न मनोवृत्तिनिश्चयः।
न जपं न परिच्छिन्नं न व्यापकं असत्फलम्॥

na guṇo guṇivākyaṃ vā na manovṛttiniścayaḥ.
na japaṃ na paricchinnaṃ na vyāpakaṃ asat-phalām.

There is no quality, no statement about a qualified being, no firm resolution of mind, no japa, nothing circumscribed, no all-pervasiveness, and no fruit that is unreal.

Verse 7

यस्त्वेतच्छृणुयाच्छिवोदितमहावेदान्ताम्बुधेः।
विजितपुण्यं नापेक्षत्यनिशं न च शब्दकल्पैः॥

yastvetacchṛṇuyācchivoditamahāvedāntāmbudheḥ.
vijitapuṇyaṃ nāpekṣatyaniśaṃ na ca śabda-kalpaiḥ.

One who listens to this emanating from Śiva, as waves of auspiciousness in the great ocean of the Vedanta, does not ever crave for anything even in aeons. The essence of all sacred lore is but that Śiva.

Verse 8

तद्वत्सर्वमशास्त्रमित्येव हि सत्यार्थि।
द्वैतोत्थं परिहाय वाक्यजालम्॥

tadvat-sarvamaśāstramityeva hi satyārthi.
dvaitotthaṃ parihāya vākyajālam.

All scriptural lore born out of duality is a net of words. One should forsake it and seek only the essence with peaceful intent.
